Commuting affects the workforce more than employers realize.  Traffic congestion and transportation costs take a toll on businesses in the form of tardiness, missed days, lack of job satisfaction, lost productivity and increased employee turnover. Some of these issues can be quantified in dollar figures, while other are less tangible. 

 

Employers who offer commuter benefits are doing more than just offering a nice perk.  Many are finding that being a socially responsible or a good corporate citizen is becoming increasingly valuable in today's global economy.  Providing information and assistance to help alleviate the stress, time, cost and environmental impacts of commuting has become a highly attractive and valued fringe benefit.

 

RideWise makes it easy for Somerset County employers to offer commuting benefits.  Since 1991, the agency has partnered with large and small employers to assess employee transportation needs, identify appropriate options and recommend implementation plans, at no cost to the employer.  RideWise is one of eight transportation management associations in New Jersey that are funded by NJDOT and NJ TRANSIT.
